Job summary

WSP USA invites motivated Civil Engineering students to join its Summer Internship Program as a Structural/Civil Engineering Intern (Substation) in Duluth, GA. The 12-week program runs from May 17, 2027, offering hands-on experience alongside senior staff.

As part of the Developing Professionals Network, you will develop technical, social, and ethical skills, with opportunities for mentorship and real project exposure in power delivery and substations.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Interest in Civil Engineering and related field, with desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Apply principles of Structural Engineering to design Structures and Foundations that support substation equipment and electrical components.
• Assist with project research, field work, and design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
