Job summary

WSP USA invites students to join its Summer Internship Program as a Full-Time Substation Structural Engineering Intern. You will work from our Billings, MT office, with opportunities also in Overland Park, KS and Lakewood, CO.

The 12-week program begins May 18, 2026, offering exposure to real projects alongside senior staff. Earn hands-on experience in power delivery, generation, and program management while developing technical and professional skills in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18+ years old and authorized to work in the US at internship start.
• Interest in Civil Engineering and willingness to develop skills on real projects.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Apply structural engineering principles to design structures and foundations for substation equipment.
• Assist with project research, field work, and design calculations and analysis.
• Help prepare final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
