Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking Substation Apprentices at multiple Utah locations to operate, construct, and maintain substations and related equipment. Candidates will perform electrical, mechanical, and civil tasks including overhaul, repair, and troubleshooting under supervision.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, Class A CDL, and completed electrical theory training including AC/DC circuits and industrial controls. Successful completion of NJATC Electrical Aptitude Test is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or proof of equivalent.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Must have completed electrical theory training, including AC & DC circuits, motors and industrial controls.
• Proof of electrical theory training with a B or better grade through an accredited institution (examples SLCC courses) or equivalent.
• Must have completed the NJATC Electrical Aptitude Test with a score of 5+.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and overhaul substation apparatus.
• Perform substation inspections and documentation for all equipment.
• Install/control panels, protective relays, metering, and wiring. Assist in relaying or metering equipment installation.
• Use specialized equipment to test, maintain, or troubleshoot apparatus (oil testing, infrared, etc.).
• Work from blueprints, manuals, schematics to install and maintain electrical systems.
