Job summary

PacifiCorp in Richfield, Utah seeks an Apprentice for Substation and Power Delivery operations. Under close supervision, you will assist in operating, constructing, and maintaining substations, switchyards, and related equipment.

You will learn to read blueprints, install and test equipment, perform inspections, and support switching orders within the transmission and distribution group, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Class A CDL required or able to obtain.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights.
• Electrical theory training with a B or better grade.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and overhaul substation apparatus and equipment.
• Perform substation inspections and documentation for equipment.
• Install and maintain station service auto transfer panels, controls, and metering equipment.
• Use equipment to test, maintain, or troubleshoot apparatus (oil sampling, power factor testing, infrared, etc.).
• Work from blueprints, manuals, schematics, and bulletins to install and maintain systems.
• Perform welding and operate shop equipment for repair or manufacture of equipment.
• Install/repair lighting, security, HVAC, and emergency power units.
• Operate service, boom, bucket trucks, and cranes; tow trailers and other mobile equipment.
• Process switching orders for Grid Ops or Dispatchers to obtain clearances for work.
