Job summary

PacifiCorp in Richfield, UT is seeking an apprentice lineman to learn and assist with the installation, maintenance and operation of substations, switchyards and related equipment under supervision. You will work from blueprints and manuals, perform inspections, and gain hands-on experience in testing, wiring, and safety processes while pursuing electrical theory training and a Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
• Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work at heights and inside substations
• Completion of electrical theory training (AC & DC power, motors and industrial controls)
• Documentation of electrical theory training with a "B" or better grade; SLCC courses EET-1140, EET-2120, EET-2170; other approved equivalents

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and overhaul substation apparatus and related equipment.
• Perform substation inspections and documentation activities.
• Install and maintain station service panels, protective relays and metering equipment.
• Test and troubleshoot using oil sampling, power factor testing, infrared, and related tools.
• Work from blueprints, manuals, and schematics to install and maintain systems.
• Perform welding and operate shop equipment for repair or fabrication of equipment.
• Install and repair lighting, security, HVAC, and emergency power units.
• Operate service trucks, cranes, and related mobile equipment; tow trailers as needed.
• Execute switching orders in coordination with dispatchers to ensure safe work clearances.
• Prepare reports and maintain records for work orders, inspections, and maintenance.
