Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking an apprentice to participate in the operation, construction, and maintenance of substations, switchyards, and associated equipment under close supervision. You will perform electrical, mechanical, and civil tasks across overhaul, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities at substations and power plants.

The role requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, obtain a Class A CDL, and complete electrical theory training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or proof of equivalent.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work at heights.
• Must be able to work inside substation apparatus.
• Must have completed electrical theory training (AC/DC).

Responsibilities

• Operate, construct, and maintain substations, switchyards and associated equipment.
• Perform substation inspections and documentation for all equipment.
• Install and maintain panels, controls, and wiring; assist in protective relaying installation.
• Use equipment to test, oil analysis, power factor testing, and related diagnostics.
• Work from blueprints and manuals to install and repair electrical systems.
• Perform welding and use shop equipment for repair and maintenance.
• Maintain lighting, HVAC, and emergency power units as needed.
• Operate cranes, bucket trucks, and other mobile equipment.
• Prepare reports and maintain records of work performed.
