Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat invites motivated college students to join the Propulsion Plant and Ship Systems Summer Internship in Groton, CT or New London, CT. Interns will engage in design development, analysis, and collaboration with senior engineers on submarine propulsion and ship systems projects.

The internship requires a minimum of 8 weeks during Summer 2027, with supervision and exposure to cutting-edge submarine programs, including Virginia and Columbia class initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time in a college or university.
• At minimum, must have completed Freshman year prior to start.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Ocean, Chemical, Civil, Nuclear, Acoustic Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations on fluid systems, structures, and components.
• Ensure system requirements and specifications are met by designs.
• Collaborate with Design, NAVY representatives, and other stakeholders to implement or resolve issues.
• Work in a team with multiple stakeholders to develop new system concepts.
• Evaluate new concepts and provide engineering recommendations.
