General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT invites applications for the Engineering, Propulsion Plant and Ship Systems Summer Internship 2027. The program supports design and waterfront engineering activities for the COLUMBIA Class, including propulsion fluid systems, structures, and ship system integration.

Competenze

• Must be 18 years or older.
• US citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Full-time student enrolled in an engineering program.
• Available to work 40 hours per week for 8+ weeks May–Sept 2027.
• Pursuing BS/MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Ocean, Chemical, Civil/Structural, Nuclear, Acoustic, Electrical or Manufacturing Eng.

Mansioni

• Perform calculations on propulsion-related systems and components.
• Ensure system requirements and specs are satisfied by designs.
• Engage with Design, Construction Trades, and Navy reps to implement/resolve issues.
• Work in multidisciplinary teams to develop propulsion/ship system solutions.
• Evaluate material conditions or design issues aboard submarines under construction or in service.
• Provide troubleshooting support on the deckplate and respond to issues.
• Document technical responses to nonconformances and design changes.
• Resolve vendor product issues and update technical publications.
• Communicate with Navy customers through formal submittals.
• Support test procedures and land-based steaming activities.
• Assist with major lifting, handling evolutions and waterfront operations.
