Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Greet lobby guests and assist with inquiries and referrals.

  • Familiarize with RLL website and CSA procedures.
  • Support front counter operations and campus event coverage.
  • Other tasks as assigned by staff.

Job Description

Department of Residential Living and learning East Texas A & M University Residential Living and Learning Mission Residential Living and Learning is an integral part of the University experience; creating safe, supportive, communities that foster personal and academic growth.

Position Overview: This position would begin ASAP, and candidate would need to be here in person at that time. The position would be need throughout the entirety of Fall 2026 and continued employment would be determined on a semester-by-semester basis.

Customer Service Assistants are undergraduate students trained as the first staff member that students, guardians of students, and university staff interact with in the Main Office of Residential Living and Learning. They assist the Residential Living and Learning professional staff with the administration of the main office. Student workers create a welcoming environment, assist students, staff and other clients with questions and concerns. They maintain a clean, organized office. Students selected to serve as a Customer Service Assistant will participate in training so that they may provide high quality support and guidance to residents and other customers.

Customer Service Assistants assist with the business of RLL’s front counter, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, striving to provide excellent customer service. Staff will be required to work all major recruiting and orientation events including but not limited to ROAR, Admitted Student’s Day, Mane Event, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for greeting lobby guests, answering/screening calls, responding to emails and providing information/referrals as applicable.
  • Documenting all student communication into the resident’s file in StarRez before the end of each shift.
  • Responsible for processing work orders by utilizing StarRez and Maintenance Connection for the creation, submission and closing procedures of work orders.
  • Be familiar with applications and the RLL website, using the front counter CSA Manual as a reference for customer service purposes.
  • Some other tasks include: Opening/Closing office procedures, COVID-19 sanitation, printer upkeep, mail sorting, campus errands, scanning, copying and shredding documents.
  • CSAs are responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled as a student at East Texas A & M University UNDERGRADUATE, to provide a current class schedule and a Fall 2026 class schedule upon being hired if taking classes over the summer.
  • Minimum of 2.5 GPA
  • Completion of application and interview
  • Positive record of conduct with Residential Living and Learning and University
  • Availability Tuesdays and Thursdays 12pm-4pm.

Working Conditions & Benefits
  • May work up to 19 hours per week while classes are in session
  • May work full-time during breaks and summer if enrolled for the upcoming fall
  • Must not work during scheduled class times
  • Open to all actively enrolled students regardless of financial aid status
  • Students do not need to be enrolled during summer if they plan to return in the fall
  • Work-study positions are need-based jobs funded through federal or state financial aid programs and allow students to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.
  • Must be awarded federal or state work-study through Financial Aid
  • May work up to 19 hours per week during the semester
  • May work full-time during breaks and summer if returning in the fall
  • Positions are limited to the amount awarded and must follow program guidelines
