Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking a student to assist with routine administrative work, filing, and lightweight data entry in a lab environment in Madison, WI.

The role requires basic computer skills and strong organization, time management, and communication abilities. Training will be provided to follow established procedures and support researchers and staff in various administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in college and willing to perform routine administrative tasks.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Basic computer and clerical skills; ability to follow instructions and established methods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine administrative tasks, filing, and projects as instructed.
  • Assist in sorting, calculating, posting, copying, and filing.
  • Maintain and locate files; retrieve information from tables, lists, and reports.
  • Perform light typing/word processing and data entry in various software systems.
  • Support lab maintenance and participate in research-based administrative duties.
  • Attend lab meetings, seminars, and workshops as needed; collaborate with team members.

SummaryAssist in routine administrative work, filing, and projects as need in accordance to specific instructions and established work methods.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist in routine sorting, calculating, posting, copying, and filing.Assist in maintaining files in appropriate location.Look up information in tables, lists and reports; post information appropriately.Perform light typing/word processing as needed.Perform data entry in a variety of software systems and/or complete forms as requested.Perform basic administrative support under the supervision of a staff member.Perform basic research experimentsSupport lab maintenanceAssist with research-based administrative dutiesParticipate in lab meetings, seminars, workshops etc. as neededCollaborate with other research team membersPerform other duties as assigned.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge – Skills – AbilitiesKnowledge of computersClerical proceduresCustomer service standardsCollaboration, and information management.Organization, time management, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.Basic knowledge of research.QualificationsAppropriate experience may be substituted for education an on equivalent basis.Minimum Required Education: Enrolled in collegeMinimum Required Experience: No experience requiredPhysical RequirementsWork requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.Work EnvironmentOccasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids.
