Job summary

Boyd Company is seeking candidates for a Student Technician Apprentice program to build technical skills through classroom training, online courses, and on-the-job training. Trainees rotate after 4 weeks of instruction in the Louisville Training Center, then join a Boyd location for paid internship segments.

The program progresses toward Shop Technician I or Field Technician status upon completion. Compensation is up to $24.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Must pass drug screen and background check.
• Willingness to learn and be trained.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication.
• Able to communicate with team members and customers.
• Good working knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, word processing programs.
• Must be dependable and arrive on time.
• Must follow safety rules and maintain a clean work area.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instruction, service and safety manuals.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electric/electronic schematics and use test equipment proficiently.
• Maintain high-quality academic standings and professional morals.
• Review and send reports in a timely manner; ensure value for work performed.
• Respond to customer requests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Keep manager informed to assist in answering customer questions.
