Job summary

American University is seeking student employees for SOC Technology Services to support classroom technology, AV equipment, and media spaces. The role is open to enrolled AU students and offers part-time hours (15 hours/week) with a wage of $18.40–$20.00 per hour.

Successful candidates will assist across help desks, theater and equipment spaces, and live events while gaining hands-on customer support experience in an academic environment.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with classroom A/V systems, media production gear, or customer service.
• Communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn and provide support across different environments.

Responsibilities

• SubHub Technology Support Desk: Provide on-call assistance for faculty and staff regarding classroom technology issues and troubleshoot questions or errors.
• Doyle/Forman Theater Support: Operate basic projection system and AV equipment during classes and theater; assist faculty using the space and ensure policies are followed.
• Cage Equipment Desk: Staff equipment checkout desk, assist with check-ins/returns, perform basic inspections, help transfer gear.
• Live Event Support: Assist with setup and operation of studio equipment; provide in-room support for classes and events.
