Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit seeks part-time Student Support Specialists to work in the Norristown After School Program. Positions support elementary and middle school students, including English Language Learners and/or academic support students, within the Norristown Area School District.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
• Experience with bilingual/bicultural students preferred.
• Experience with applicable age group preferred.
• Computer and current technology knowledge required.
• Act 33 and 34 clearances and federal criminal history background check required (available through CCIU on hire).
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement daily lessons related to student needs.
• Provide an engaging environment designed to meet student needs.
• Implement developmentally appropriate behavior management strategies.
• Plan and implement a daily learning schedule including physical movement, SEL, and STEAM activities.
• Maintain student attendance and participation data.

At the present time, vacancies exist for Part-time Student Support Specialists within the Norristown After School Program, Student Services Division of the CCIU. Currently, there are multiple openings working with elementary and middle school age students, and supporting English Language Learners and/or academic support students.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Implement behavior management strategies that are developmentally appropriate
• Plan and implement a daily learning schedule that includes:
  • Physical movement
  • Social and emotional learning
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) activities
• Maintain student attendance and participation data

• Davenport Elementary School and Marshall Street Elementary School
• Blockson, ENMS, and ESTLA Middle School

Schedule

Three days a week (TBD)
3:30pm - 5:30pm (Middle School), 4:00pm–5:30pm (Elementary)

Hourly Rate (2026-2027 School Year)

Project Band 13: $31.82 - $39.77 per hour

Placement on scale commensurate with years of experience in a relevant position
