Job summary

Northland Pioneer College Academic Advisor supports traditional and early college students across NPC locations, providing advising, registration help and post-secondary planning to promote readiness, degree completion and transfer opportunities.

This role requires a visible campus presence, coordination with Records & Registration and high school partners, and involvement in FAFSA nights, student workshops and college fairs to expand outreach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Notary commission required once in position.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advising on course selection, registration, scholarships, financial aid, graduation requirements, career goals, and accommodations.
  • Establish regular presence at assigned high schools to support early college students and build rapport with school staff.
  • Assist homeschooled and other non-traditional early college students.
  • Assist students with applying to NPC, transfer planning, and post-secondary transitions.
  • Coordinate registration processes with Records & Registration and high school partners (e.g., NAVIT, TALON, and Dual Enrollment).
  • Serve as program specialist for assigned academic departments and student groups.
  • Coordinate and administer placement testing.
  • Support graduation ceremonies and certificate completion events.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance educational programming.
  • Assist with advising departmental planning, events, and meetings.
  • Serve on NPC departmental and college committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attending events on nights and weekends may occasionally be required.
