Job summary

Raritan Valley Community College is seeking a Part-Time Academic Advisor in the Advising & Transfer Services department to guide new, returning and continuing students in academic planning, course selection, and major choice, with a focus on retention and success.

The Advisor will work as part of a team to support college goals, maintain up-to-date knowledge of programs and policies, and refer students to counselors, financial aid, and other campus services as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working directly in a student service setting.
• Demonstrated track record of excellent student service and commitment to overall student success.
• Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or Higher Education Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on academic planning, course selection, and major choice, transfer and career information.
• Work as part of a team to support the College's strategic goals and student retention.
• Maintain knowledge of degree programs, policies, and procedures with confidentiality of records.
• Refer students to counselors, financial aid, and other campus services as needed.
• Support Admissions and Recruitment activities.
