The role collaborates with faculty and student-support offices to ensure timely, accurate advising and holistic support for diverse learners, including first‑generation students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds, including first‑generation learners.
• Commitment to confidentiality and FERPA guidelines.
• Proficiency with basic office software and willingness to learn student information systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one academic advising to new and continuing students, including course planning and degree requirements.
• Assist students in developing individualized academic plans that support timely graduation.
• Guide students through registration, add/drop processes, and schedule adjustments.
• Maintain accurate advising notes and ensure documentation aligns with policies.
• Coordinate with faculty, Admissions, Student Records, Financial Aid, and Student Support Services for holistic support.
• Assist with new student orientation, advising workshops, and outreach events.
• Connect students with tutoring, counseling, financial aid and other services as needed.
• Foster an advising environment that honors Native identity and community values.
