Job summary

Rockland Community College is seeking an Advisor to provide purposeful guidance to students, empowering them to explore academic and career identities, achieve credentials, and realize career goals. You will work closely with the Student Success Team to promote retention, completion, and student success across the assigned School.

The position includes transfer counseling, help with resumes and interviewing, and guidance on degree requirements and pathways.

Qualifications

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical education or technical proficiency in appropriate field.
• 1-2 year’s job related experience or technical proficiency in appropriate field.
• Experience working directly with college students in a college setting (preferably community college setting).
• Experience with case management, strong communication and interpersonal skills and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Deans and entire Student Success Team to help promote retention and completion of all enrolled students
• Assist students with cover letters, resumes, interviewing, and social networking skills
• Provide transfer counseling services
• Assist with all academic, career, and transfer activities for assigned School
• Facilitate academic intervention strategies to vulnerable students
• Educate students on support services, financial literacy, college policies/procedures
• Educate students about degree requirements and academic and career pathways
• Engage students in supportive, open, collaborative relationships of excellence
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
