Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in schools, helping students achieve academic progress, stronger attendance, and positive behavior. You will plan and monitor progress and work with teachers to support classrooms.

This entry-level, paid, full-time role includes 2–4 weeks of training and ongoing coaching from partners. It emphasizes service to diverse communities and hands-on impact in classrooms.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (location dependent).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily learning activities.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress.
• Support school-wide programs and family engagement.
