Job summary

Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio, part of ACCEL Schools, seeks an Academic Support Specialist to improve student achievement and culture. You will work with students at risk, families, and school leaders to develop plans for academic and behavioral success.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, administrators, and families, supporting RTI/MTSS initiatives and ensuring alignment with the school’s mission. A strong counseling background is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling with School Counseling Endorsement and valid Ohio Teaching Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree with valid Teaching Certificate.
• Experience supporting at-risk students and navigating RTI/MTSS processes.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and families.

Responsibilities

• Relentlessly work to meet goals related to student achievement and culture.
• Meet with at-risk students each marking period to form action plans with families.
• Plan and promote programs that support academic, social or emotional growth.
• Assist with high school admissions applications and diploma-related tasks.
• Support students with IEPs and English learners where applicable.
• Collaborate with the Director of Academics, Parent Liaison, and Dean of Students to address discipline and attendance issues.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional progress.
• Contribute to a positive school culture and uphold professional standards.
