Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide at Akron Preparatory School in Akron, Ohio. This role supports teachers, promotes positive student behavior, and helps maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or college coursework and proficiency in MS Office, plus the ability to pass required background checks. Experience in education is a plus, and strong communication with students, families, and staff is valued.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years of college coursework or the Paraprofessional’s Exam.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Successful completion of a background check (BCI/FBI).
• Ability to meet educational standards and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Supports lessons taught by the teacher and follows instructional plans as assigned.
• Helps plan classroom activities and supports the Teacher in student/parent relations.
• Assists with school activities and events (parent nights, meetings, assemblies, etc.).
• Performs clerical duties including grading papers and making copies.
• Assists the Teacher in the use of classroom technology.
• Maintains cleanliness of the classroom, lunchroom and other areas.
• Upholds the school’s philosophy and policies in all activities.
• Other duties as assigned, including field trips and duty shifts.
