Job summary

Mountwest Community & Technical College in Cabell County, WV is seeking a Student Services Specialist to support students through admissions and enrollment, from application to day one of class.

The role assists with admissions applications, FAFSA/financial aid questions, and general advising. You will coordinate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, and other Student Services teams to remove barriers and promote persistence and success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination required; higher education preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills required.
• Ability to manage detailed records, interpret policies, and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information systems/databases.
• Travel will be required; valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a welcoming, student-centered point of contact for Student Services.
• Assist prospective students with admissions applications and overview of Mountwest programs.
• Assist students with FAFSA completion and financial aid questions.
• Provide assistance with general forms, paperwork, and routine Student Services needs.
• Serve as a liaison between Student Services and programs housed at off-campus locations.
• Support enrollment and student success efforts for short-term training and workforce programs.
• Connect students with Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, Accessibility & Wellness, and other Student Services offices.
• Participate in targeted recruitment events and information sessions.
• Assist with follow-up and outreach to reduce barriers and encourage enrollment and persistence.
• Develop partnerships to recruit special populations (e.g., foster/housing/kinship care).
• Maintain a strong customer-service focus for a consistent student experience.
• Be an active member of the Student Services team.
• Other duties as assigned.
