Job summary

Mountwest Community & Technical College-Cabell Co. seeks a Student Experience Advocate to greet students, answer questions, and guide them through Admissions, FAFSA and Financial Aid, Advising, and campus services.

You will triage needs, provide basic assistance, and connect students with the right office to remove barriers to enrollment and success. This role emphasizes excellent customer service, strong communication, and the ability to manage records and referrals while supporting persistence

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; education/experience combo.
• Higher education experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage detailed records; maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for students and visitors.
• Answer the main college phone line and direct inquiries.
• Assist with FAFSA, admissions, and enrollment questions.
• Assist prospective students with admissions applications.
• Check students in for appointments across Student Services.
• Provide information about campus programs and resources.
• Refer students to appropriate offices and staff.
• Provide forms help and routine paperwork support.
• Lead student services work-study employees.
• Support initiatives for persistence, retention, and completion.
• Create a welcoming, student-centered experience.
• Collaborate as an active Student Services team member.
• Other duties as assigned.
