Salary: $44,000 *This position is grant funded through June 2031.*

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Admissions and Recruiting in the Division of Student Services, the Student Services Specialist supports students throughout the admissions and enrollment process, from initial recruitment and application through the first day of class. The position participates in recruitment activities, assists students with admissions requirements and application completion, provides support with FAFSA and financial aid-related questions, and responds to general advising and enrollment questions. The Specialist works proactively with prospective and newly admitted students to identify and address barriers, provide timely follow-up, connect students with appropriate campus resources, and ensure they complete the necessary steps to enroll and begin classes successfully. Through personalized support and collaboration across Student Services, the position contributes to enrollment, student engagement, persistence, retention, and completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a welcoming, student-centered point of contact for Student Services.

• Assist prospective students with completing admissions applications and provide a general overview of Mountwest programs, services, and enrollment options.

• Assist students with FAFSA completion, financial aid questions, and understanding next steps in the financial aid process.

• Provide assistance with general forms, paperwork, documentation, and other routine Student Services needs.

• Serve as a liaison between Student Services and programs specifically housed at off campus locations.

• Support enrollment and student success efforts associated with short-term training, workforce programs, and other non-traditional educational opportunities.

• Connect students with appropriate offices and staff when needs require specialized assistance, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, Accessibility & Wellness, and other Student Services areas.

• Participate in targeted recruitment events, outreach activities, information sessions, and other enrollment initiatives.

• Assist with follow-up and student outreach designed to reduce barriers, encourage enrollment, and support student persistence and retention.

• Develop and maintain partnerships to recruit special populations such as individuals affected by foster care, housing, kinship care, etc.

• Maintain a strong customer-service focus and help ensure students receive a consistent and positive experience when interacting with Mountwest.

• Serve as an active member of the Student Services team.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelors degree in education, student services, business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience in higher education preferred.
