Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behaviors in partner schools. You will plan targeted literacy and math activities, monitor progress, and support teachers with small-group instruction.

Program training is provided, and you will work with school staff to create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment and participate in school-wide initiatives and family engagement efforts.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or mentoring students in school settings preferred.
• Ability to plan engaging literacy and math activities by student level.
• Strong interpersonal skills to support student behavior and attendance.
• Ability to track progress and communicate with teachers and families.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies in class.
• Record and monitor student progress in City Year data systems.
• Collaborate with teachers to support whole-class instruction and engagement.
• Support school-wide programs and family engagement initiatives.
