Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level City Year AmeriCorps Members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school. You’ll support academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors, planning progress and collaborating with teachers for in-class support.

Initial training provided (2–4 weeks). Benefits include health/dental/vision, relocation assistance, and bi-weekly living stipends. Start date around July/August 2025.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA not eligible).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to a background check and start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to promote academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual progress and support teachers with instruction.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
• Support literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Develop behavior management strategies and track student progress in City Year data system.
• Engage families and support extended day and after-school programs.
