Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level, paid, full-time Student Success Coach and Mentor to support students across grade levels. You’ll coach and mentor, plan progress for each student, and work with teachers to reinforce learning during classroom activities.

Training is provided at the start of the year and you’ll participate in ongoing professional development. You’ll contribute to literacy and math skill development, build positive behaviors, and help create a safe, engaging school environment,

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary; 2–4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to earn academic success and improve attendance
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class activities
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in collaboration with teachers
• Support school initiatives and after-school programs including enrichment, intervention, and leadership development
• Lead 1:1 and small group work focusing on literacy and math skill development
• Document and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system and participate in progress reviews
