Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors, supporting elementary to high school students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior. Training is provided; you’ll work with teachers and staff to monitor progress and deliver in-class and after-school support.

Members receive benefits and stipends, with opportunities for scholarships and career partnerships, starting in July/August 2025.

Qualifications

• Citizen or permanent resident eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms completed
• Agree to and pass a background check
• Able to start City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to improve academic success and attendance
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on instruction
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities and encourage assignment completion
• Create and implement behavior management and safe classroom environments
• Support extended day, after-school programs, and family engagement initiatives
