Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in elementary to high schools, helping students improve academics, attendance, and behavior. You will plan and monitor progress, collaborate with teachers, and provide after-school and in-class support.

We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the start and ongoing guidance. This entry-level, full-time role includes a bi-weekly living stipend and benefits through City Year and AmeriCorps.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or a college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math activities matching student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress.
• Support extended day and after-school programs for student engagement.
