Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on academic success, attendance, and positive behavior. Training is provided up front, with ongoing collaboration with teachers to support student progress and classroom learning.

As part of City Year, you’ll contribute to a safe, engaging learning environment and participate in school-wide initiatives and after-school programs that enrich student development.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2-4 weeks of training at start of year provided.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and data.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through guided learning, reflection and repetition.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress.
