Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as tutors, mentors and role models in public schools, helping students achieve academic success and develop positive behaviors. You will work with teachers and families to monitor progress and provide individualized coaching, while engaging with after-school and enrichment activities.

This entry-level, full-time AmeriCorps position offers training, a living stipend, and benefits as part of City Year’s mission to support students and communities across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ages 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma (or higher).
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms previously.
• Willing to undergo background check.
• Available to start July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management systems.
• Collaborate with teachers and monitor student progress in City Year data system.
• Assist with school-wide engagement and enrichment programs.
