Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior in school settings. You’ll plan and monitor progress and work with teachers on in-class support and small-group instruction.

The program offers extensive training, a generous benefits package, and a pathway to community impact starting in July/August 2025, with placements across City Year locations in the United States.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; authorization to work is required.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students 1:1 or in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management systems.
• Support and collaborate with teachers on instruction and student progress.
• Collect, record, analyze, and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom environment with teachers.
