Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors. You’ll plan and monitor progress, supporting teachers with class instruction and targeted in-class student assistance.

New AmeriCorps members receive 2–4 weeks of training, work with partner teachers, and participate in ongoing collaboration to maximize student outcomes and engagement throughout the year.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and data.
• Support school initiatives and student engagement events.
