Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in schools, supporting elementary to high school students with academics, attendance, and positive behaviors.

This entry-level role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training, collaboration with partner teachers, and ongoing support to help students thrive. Benefits include health coverage, stipends, and access to educational awards.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. and ready for placement in schools.
• Willing to commit to the AmeriCorps program and complete required training.
• No prior AmeriCorps terms beyond policy limits.

Responsibilities

• Coach 1:1 and small groups to boost academics and attendance.
• Plan literacy and math activities tailored to each student level.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies in-class.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Support school-wide engagement and student development initiatives.
