Job summary

The Heron Institute is seeking a part-time, on-site Learning Lab Advisor in Columbia, SC. The role focuses on high-touch educational support for students and families, coordinating services, and maintaining clear communication with schools and tutors.

Responsibilities include onboarding new students, organizing conferences, leading live orientation, liaising between learners, coaches and teachers, and facilitating STEM and enrichment programming while traveling up to 25% as required.

Qualifications

• Two years of college completed.
• Two years of experience in education or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
• Adaptable in a fast-paced work environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Able to pass required background check.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates services and assistance to students and families at the learning lab.
• Arranges support conferences to address performance concerns.
• Assists students in creating engagement plans.
• May assist with onboarding for assigned students.
• Provides responsive support to students via phone and email.
• Maintains re-registration support and updates.
• Acts as liaison between students, Learning Coach and teachers.
• Ensures access to courses and necessary equipment.
