Job summary

Gateway Community &Technical College seeks an Academic Advisor II to independently manage a student caseload, develop personalized success plans, and provide proactive outreach. This role collaborates with campus partners to support persistence and completion, serving as a key resource for navigating academic, personal, and institutional barriers.

The position focuses on advising across educational planning, course selection, transfers, and career exploration, with an emphasis on timely

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent and 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to guide students through academic planning and institutional processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Commitment to proactive guidance and timely follow-up.
  • Experience supporting student progression via multiple advising formats.
  • Maintaining accurate advising notes in institutional systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned caseload of students and provide individualized advising.
  • Assist students with educational planning, course selection, transfers, and career exploration.
  • Develop student success plans to support persistence and completion.
  • Monitor progress and identify barriers to success.
  • Maintain confidential student records and accurate notes.
  • Collaborate with campus partners on enrollment, retention, and success initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development and special projects.
