Job summary

Gateway Community & Technical College is seeking an Academic Advisor II to independently manage a student caseload, develop individualized success plans, and collaborate with campus partners to support student persistence and completion.

This role focuses on advising across academic, personal, and institutional barriers by aiding educational planning, progress monitoring, and maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to guide students through academic planning and institutional processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex academic information clearly and professionally to students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Commitment to supporting student success through proactive guidance, clear communication, and timely follow-up.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned caseload of students and provide individualized advising and support.
  • Assist students with educational planning, course selection, transfer opportunities, and career exploration.
  • Develop student success plans designed to support persistence, retention, and completion.
  • Monitor student progress and identify potential barriers to success.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
