Job summary

Community College of Vermont is seeking an experienced student advisor to support students from admissions to credential completion. You will recruit, orient, and help students navigate policies and campus resources.

You will develop education plans, coordinate with faculty, and provide proactive advising using multiple communication channels to keep students engaged and prepared for jobs or transfer. The role requires a Master's degree and several years in student services.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 3-5 years professional experience in education, student services, counseling, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, student-centered environment.
  • Knowledge of higher education policies and student development theory.
  • Strong planning, detail orientation, and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and advise students from admissions through graduation.
  • Assist students with exploring career pathways and connecting to support services.
  • Help students create education plans and track progress toward credentials.
  • Provide proactive advising and real-time interventions to support persistence.
  • Collaborate with faculty to address barriers to learning.
  • Build partnerships with K-12, community organizations, and social services.
  • Deliver advising through in-person and virtual formats.
  • Participate in professional development and fulfill other duties as assigned.
