Job summary

Southeast Community College is seeking a Part-time College Advisor to provide holistic advising for an assigned cohort from admission through the student’s academic career. The role supports onboarding, career and academic advising, and collaboration with SCC staff.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in education, business, psychology, or related field and at least two years of experience with student services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, psychology, or related field.
  • Two years of professional experience working with students in an educational environment (a master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience).
  • Two years of professional experience working with students in an educational environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advise students from admission through the first term to support success.
  • Explain general education and degree requirements and evaluate transfer credits.
  • Refer students to Admissions, Testing Center, Financial Aid, and other services as needed.
  • Support ongoing student success and retention through coaching and guidance.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote holistic advising across SCC.
