You will route complex cases to College Advisers and assist with petitions, forms, and referrals within the College of Letters & Science.

The role emphasizes professional advising, collaboration with campus units, and participation in ongoing training and cross-campus committees.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of academic advising techniques.
• Knowledge of academic departments, courses, and majors.
• Knowledge of College policies, procedures, and requirements in higher education.
• Detail-oriented with ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Ability to communicate policy clearly and make sound judgments.

Responsibilities

• Staff reception area and respond to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, or staff in a professional manner.
• Provide prescriptive academic advising and refer to College Advisers or campus resources.
• Listen to students and empathize with their difficulties.
• Explain College rules and regulations to students and assist with petitions and forms.
• Refer complex issues to College Advisers or Deans as needed.
• Support implementation of advising projects and maintain student records.
