Job summary

The University of California, Berkeley is seeking an Admissions Advisor to guide prospective students from inquiry through application submission. This role involves reviewing applications and advising on admissions decisions for our programs, while maintaining active outreach to diverse student populations.

We are hiring for a full-time, non-exempt position based in Berkeley. The posted budgeted hourly range is $30.78–$41.84, with bi-weekly pay and UC benefits; prior experience with CRM tools

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to interpret program policies and procedures to prospective applicants and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Desire to help students achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals.
  • Ability to screen and evaluate a program's overall fit for a student's goals.
  • Ability to conduct trainings and provide guidance to students, in-person, via web, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Preferred familiarity with Salesforce, Slate, Zendesk or similar CRM/platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises professional judgment in reviewing, evaluating, and recommending applicants for admission using established guidelines.
  • Responds to inquiries from prospective students and provides information on admissions requirements, programs and curricula; advises on entrance requirements, application procedures, financial aid, housing, etc.
  • Maintains an active caseload of prospective students and tracks activity through multiple channels; supports communications and outreach strategy.
  • Performs recruitment activities, including creating materials and representing the department at admissions events; maintains a prospective student database and tracks progress.
