Job summary

Vance County Schools Central Office - BOE in Henderson, NC is seeking a Student Behavior and Intervention Specialist (3) to provide building-level support for students with behavioral and social-emotional challenges. The role focuses on assessments, individualized interventions, and re-engagement plans.

The SBIS collaborates with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to implement and monitor behavior plans, crisis responses, and transition processes for students returning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience with students with behavioral/social-emotional needs.
• Experience developing/implementing behavioral interventions or BIPs preferred.
• Experience collaborating with schools, families, and agencies preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors and staff to support students with behavioral needs.
• Conducts observations and functional behavior assessments to identify causes of behavior.
• Develops and monitors Behavior Intervention Plans and other supports.
• Provides individual and small-group interventions and mentoring.
• Coordinates reentry and transition plans for students returning from various disruptions.
• Provides ongoing check-ins to help students reconnect academically and socially.
• Participates in crisis prevention and post-crisis support planning.
• Maintains accurate documentation of interventions and student progress.
• Collaborates with families, mental health providers, and agencies to coordinate services.
• Reviews data to identify trends and advises district leadership.
• Delivers coaching and professional development on behavior interventions.
