Job summary

Communities in Schools in the United States (Johnstown, PA area) seeks a Student Re-Engagement Specialist to re-engage students across virtual, hybrid, or in-person settings. You will identify barriers to attendance, provide technology access support, mentor students, and collaborate with families and district staff to boost attendance and academic outcomes.

The role is full-time (exempt) with annual funding renewal.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of the public education system.
• Relationship-building with diverse groups.
• Familiarity with data management and tracking.

Responsibilities

• Identifies disengaged students and those with unlawful absences.
• Supports access to technology for virtual learning.
• Outreach to disengaged students and families to re-engage with school.
• Tracks data and interventions in CISDM.
• Develops attendance improvement plans with students and families.
• Participates in home visits with district attendance officer as needed.
• Refers students to internal/external resources as appropriate.
• Attends truancy proceedings with district representative.
• Monitors program effectiveness and impact quarterly.
• Coordinates program reporting to CISPA state office and partners.
• Acts as CISPA ambassador with schools, students, families, volunteers, and partners.
• Participates on CISPA team.
• Other duties as assigned.
