Job summary

Washoe County School District invites applications for a Re-Engagement Specialist (One Year Only) to locate non-enrolled students and assist in re-enrollment in an appropriate educational setting. Under the Unity Support Coordinator, you will engage students, families and schools toward timely reenrollment.

The role requires interviews, data gathering, reporting, and collaboration with community agencies, school staff and Family Advocates to support at-risk youth and ensure district policy

Qualifications

• Education: 30 semester units or 45 quarter units from accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, social services, humanities, criminal justice or related field.
• Experience: Two years working with at-risk students, preferably in an educational setting.
• Experience in consulting with families and community agencies.
• Relevant experience in investigative work is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Seeks to find missing students and investigates habitual truancy and re-enrollment.
• Interviews relevant parties in person or by telephone and coordinates with families and schools.
• Gathers data and prepares detailed reports of findings.
• Coordinates with community agencies and reports suspected child abuse.
• Maintains records and complies with district policies.
