Washoe County School District seeks a Re-Engagement Specialist to locate and assist students not enrolled in school, guiding them toward re-enrollment in suitable educational settings. Works under the Unity Support Coordinator to coordinate with schools, families, and community agencies.

The role involves intake and assessment, data gathering, and detailed reporting to support successful re-entry. This is a grant-funded, one-year position with benefits and a structured salary schedule.

Competenze

• Education: 30 semester units or 45 quarter units from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, social services, humanities, criminal justice or related field.
• Experience: Two years of experience working with at-risk students, preferably in an educational setting; experience consulting with families and community agencies; investigative experience helpful.
• Knowledge: Interviewing, counseling, casework, investigative techniques, report writing, and laws affecting truancy; community resources.
• Skills: Interviewing diverse individuals, gathering and analyzing information, maintaining records, using a computer to write reports; interacting with families and officials with tact and good judgment.

Mansioni

• Locate missing students and respond to requests to investigate habitual truancy.
• Consult with schools, locate students, and interview relevant parties.
• Coordinate intake and assessment for re-enrollment with families and guardians.
• Collaborate with Family Advocates and Accountability to support re-entry.
• Gather data and prepare detailed reports and maintain records.
• Refer students to community programs and report child abuse/neglect when appropriate.
• Participate in meetings, training and professional development.
