The University of New Mexico, Main Campus in Albuquerque, seeks a Student Office Assistant to perform front-desk and administrative duties, including welcoming students, directing inquiries, and maintaining office routines.
Ideal candidates will have a Fall 2026 work-study award, strong customer service, and proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and Outlook; shifts up to 20 hours weekly.
Core Roles and Responsibilities The Student Office Assistant will handle a variety of front-desk andadministrative duties, including:•Front-Desk Operations: Manage high-volumefoot traffic and inquiries, primarily focused on first-time and transferstudents in a friendly and professional manner.
The information resource: Provide accurate information, clear directions to campusresources and services, and answer phones professionally.
Administrative Support: Offer general administrative support, including filing,reporting supply needs for ordering, and providing assistance to the Office ofAdvising Strategies.
Clerical Tasks: Perform office duties such as typing, document formatting,inputting data, and preparing welcome packets.
Marketing/Outreach: Actively participate in the planning, promotion, andstaffing of 2-3 outreach events per semester, fostering community amongtransfer students.
Office Maintenance: Occasional light cleaning and organizing of the office andlobby and supplies
Schedule The maximum schedule is typically 20 hours per week, with shifts scheduled in2–4-hour blocks between M-F, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Being able to work at leastfour days a week is encouraged within the work-study guidelines. Student mayalso be assigned to work at the UNM Testing & Training Center (located inCasas del Rio) as needed.
Eligibility MUST have a Work-Study Award for Spring 2026. Pleaseprovide proof of the award with your application.
Previous office experience or familiarity with UNM systems.
Skills Demonstrated willingness to learn new systems and follow through with assigned tasks.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, and professional phone skills.
Technical Knowledge of MS Office (Word).
Knowledge and experience with Excel and Outlook.
Profesionalism Ability to stay orgainzed, maintain strong attention to detail, and handle confidential content.
