Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a part-time Program Assistant for the Union Club House and Student Leadership & Involvement Office. The role focuses on front desk duties, craft assistance, and delivering strong customer service to students and staff.

The PA works about 10 hours per week, including some evenings or weekends, and participates in staff meetings and campus events. Eligibility follows university employment rules and E-Verify requirements.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage time as a student employee about 10 hours/week.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Collaborate with co-workers and supervisors respectfully and professionally.
• Must be available during business hours, 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
• Some after-hours availability is needed.
• Must meet James Madison University's conditions of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide front desk coverage for The Union 208 (The Club House).
• Provide front desk coverage for The Union 320 (Student Leadership and Involvement Office).
• Assist students in creating craft and promotional projects and locating supplies.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Enforce Club House rules.
• Assist with Student Org Night in the Fall and Spring.
• Work days, nights, and/or weekends for approximately 10 hours per week.
• Attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
• Assist Student Life staff, as requested.
• Handle all aspects of the front desk – for example: Greeting guests, answering a multi-line phone system, picking up mail and packages from the post office, etc.
• Provide guidance to students, faculty, and staff in the following areas: BeInvolved, Student Life website, Student Organization registration processes, and more.
• Assist office staff with various administrative tasks and initiatives such as Adam's Law/Stop the Haze and Annual Student Organization Registration.
• Participate on a Program Assistant committee – following through on assignments, special projects, and collaborating with other PAs.
