James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, seeks a Program Assistant - IE to staff The Union spaces and front desk in the Student Leadership and Involvement suite. You will assist students with crafts, projects, and supplies, while delivering high-quality customer service.

The role is part-time, non-exempt, with occasional after-hours work and a commitment to the division's initiatives. The position requires availability within 8 am–5 pm business hours and enrollment as a degree-seeking

Qualifications

• Ability to manage time as a student employee working about 10 hours/week.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Collaborate with co-workers and supervisors respectfully and professionally.
• Understands and appreciates the initiatives of the Student Life department.
• Must be available during business hours, 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
• Some after-hours availability is needed.
• Must meet James Madison University's conditions of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide front desk coverage for The Union 208 (The Club House).
• Provide front desk coverage for The Union 320 (Student Leadership and Involvement Office).
• Assist students in creating craft and promotional projects and locating supplies.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Enforce Club House rules.
• Assist with Student Org Night in the Fall and Spring.
• Work days, nights, and/or weekends for approximately 10 hours per week.
• Attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
• Assist Student Life staff, as requested.
• Handle all aspects of the front desk – for example: Greeting guests, answering a multi-line phone system, picking up mail and packages from the post office, etc.
• Provide guidance to students, faculty, and staff in the following areas: BeInvolved, Student Life website, Student Organization registration processes, and more.
• Assist office staff with various administrative tasks and initiatives such as Adam’s Law/Stop the Haze and Annual Student Organization Registration.
• Participate on a Program Assistant committee – following through on assignments, special projects, and collaborating with other PAs.
