Job summary

Shaw University seeks a Career Advisor within the Experiential Learning & Career Development Center to guide students and alumni in career planning, assessments, and job-search strategies, delivering individual and group counseling and coordinating workshops across campus.

The role collaborates with academic advising and faculty, supports data collection for annual reports, and provides outreach in classrooms, residence halls, and student organizations, while training paraprofessional career

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution is required.
• Master's degree in Career Counseling, Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
• Experience counseling students in a college/university setting is required.
• Experience with Career Services Management tools such as Symplicity, Handshake or CSO preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide students and alumni individual career counseling and job-search guidance.
• Administer career assessment instruments and guidance systems.
• Coordinate and support career programs and workshops.
• Collaborate with university divisions to promote advising services.
• Plan, schedule, and manage travel logistics for program activities.
• Collect and analyze data for annual program reporting.
• Develop training materials for resume writing and interview skills.
• Lead outreach programs in classrooms, residence halls, and student organizations.
