Job summary

The Health Professions Career and Experiential Learning Advisor is a full-time professional staff member in the Career Center, created to strengthen support for students pursuing health professions.

Reporting to the Career Center Dean, the Advisor leads individualized career advising with a specialized focus on internships, coaching, and postgraduate planning for pre-health students across Lawrence’s programs.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in career advising or related student-facing higher education work.
• Experience building and maintaining employer or healthcare partnerships.
• Strong advising, coaching, and interpersonal skills with confidentiality.
• Familiarity with Handshake/Symplicity and related platforms.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate health professions experiential learning partnerships with local healthcare networks.
• Develop internships and practicums from partner agreement to placement and evaluation.
• Maintain a structured pipeline of opportunities and track host capacity and requirements.
• Organize alumni mentoring and networking events for health professions.
• Coordinate financial support for unpaid internships per program guidelines.
