Job summary

Job description

The TJC Student Assistant, Computer Lab Attendant is an off-campus position located at the Tyler Public Library. In this role, the student will provide customer service support by assisting library patrons with basic computer lab needs, answering questions, and helping ensure a positive and welcoming environment for all visitors.

*Student Assistant positions are subject to a maximum of 18 hours per week.

  • Assists with patron needs in the public computer lab, including but not limited to form completion, printing, and web navigation.
  • Answers basic questions and/or refers visitors to the appropriate point of contact or resource.
  • Reports statistical data regarding assistance provided by the end of the workday.
  • Assists computer lab staff with clerical tasks as needed.

Work Environment:

Public library environment, including computer lab and instructional spaces.

Physical Demands:

Sitting, walking, standing, typing, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, lifting (~25 lbs.)

Travel Required:

Yes- Tyler Public Library

If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record

Students must be registered for undergraduate classes and maintain enrollment status to work in these positions. Students may qualify for Federal Work-Study, which is determined by the Office of Financial Aid.

Additional Job-Specific Requirements

Students are allowed to work a maximum of eighteen (18) hours per week and cannot work in multiple hourly positions. A work week is Monday-Sunday.
